Panchapalli
Date: 29-Sep-13
Until Sudheer invited us on this trip, neither Thilak nor I had ever heard of Panchapalli. Panchapalli is located about 85 km from Bangalore in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The group consisted of Thilak, Sudheer, me, and three of Sudheer’s friends—Kiran, Mamatha, and another Sudheer. We planned to meet at Silk Board at 6:30 AM. Thilak and I arrived before the scheduled time, and Sudheer and his friends reached around 7:00 AM.
We decided to take the route via Anekal and stopped there for breakfast before continuing our journey.

Journey through Denkanikottai
Our next milestone was Denkanikottai Taluk, a name that took us quite some time to remember! Thankfully, with the help of Google Maps, reaching the destination was effortless.
The route itself was one of the highlights of the trip. Surrounded by lush greenery, wide roads, and almost no traffic, the journey was incredibly scenic and enjoyable. We rode at a relaxed pace, taking in the beauty around us, which also meant it took us a little longer to reach our destination.
By the time we arrived at Denkanikottai, all of us were hungry. Although it was not a large town, there were a few small shops and bakeries where we bought biscuits and cold drinks. We also enjoyed some refreshing tender coconut water before heading towards Panchapalli, which is located about 20 km from Denkanikottai.

Exploring Panchapalli
We reached Panchapalli at around noon. The weather was extremely hot that day, with the sun shining relentlessly overhead.
The Panchapalli Dam and its reservoir are the main attractions of the area. The surroundings were peaceful, clean, and well maintained. There were very few visitors—perhaps only 10 to 15 people—which added to the calm atmosphere of the place.
We spent some time exploring the area, clicking photographs, and walking along the dam. Eventually, we found a pleasant spot to sit and relax while chatting for a while. By then, everyone was feeling hungry, so we finished the biscuits we had purchased earlier and hoped to find a nearby restaurant for lunch.
At around 2:00 PM, we started our return journey. The afternoon heat was intense, and we drove around for some time looking for a decent place to eat. Unfortunately, we could not find a suitable restaurant near Panchapalli.
As a result, we decided to head back to Denkanikottai for lunch. We reached there around 3:00 PM and were relieved to find lunch available at a restaurant called Saravana Bhavan. After enjoying a satisfying meal, we resumed our journey at around 4:00 PM.
For the return trip, we chose the route via Hosur. After a coffee break in Hosur, everyone headed back to their respective destinations. Thilak and I finally reached Jayanagar at around 6:30 PM.
Although the trip was physically tiring for me, it was also incredibly memorable. We discovered a new destination, enjoyed a beautiful bike ride through scenic landscapes, and had the opportunity to meet three new friends along the way. That alone made the journey worthwhile.
