Wayanad Zip Line
We always had a wish to tryout zip line, and sliding through the fresh and flourishing green tea estate valley at Eagle’s Flight Zip line of Vythiri was one of the best moments of this trip.
Planning
After we visited Vayalada viewpoint, we were craving for food as it was already late and we both were tired by the torturous mid noon sun. Our plan was to return to our stay at Vythiri and relax for sometime until heading out for some adventurous activities around Vythiri. So we decided to have lunch on our way back. It was already day 2 of our Wayanad trip and to be frank we were a bit disappointed by the food options around. But White House Restaurant on SH29 changed our perspective. It was one of the best Kerala Paratha and Pulav we tasted till date. Even though the place was buzzing with crowd, we managed to get the seat. Staffs are not very courteous, but the taste of the food makes you overlook anything else.
Best route
Not having much idea about the interior routes of Wayanad, we had the plan to return to hotel by the evening. So we started from Vythiri after a short relaxing break at hotel and proceeded towards a place marked as Muddy boots adventure on map. Around 5.5 km of route from our stay (Green pepper- By the riverside, Vythiri) to Muddy Boots Zip line was an easy and peaceful ride through the interior road without much tourist crowd anywhere. When we say ‘Tourist Crowd’ we know even we are part of that 🙂
Eagle’s Flight Zip Line
When we reached the place as directed by Google Maps, It was not Muddy Boot Zip line, but Eagle’s flight zip line. Zip line firm hardly matters to anyone until the experience is good. There was no dedicated parking available. We parked our car beside the road, making sure it won’t cause any nuisance to the regular road users.
The place was almost empty, with only one more group of people waiting for the Zip line. We got our chance in no time. We had to pay 500 rs each for around 400 m of zip line adventure. The price was totally worth it. Eagle’s flight had good staff who guided us through the process. They will equip you with the secure belts and helmet and push you from the one end of the cabin. Experience of zipping through the slopes of tea estate is really exhilarating. Sad that it got over in no time. Ranjani was bit nervous in the beginning to try this out, but in the end she was happy that she tried and enjoyed.
Around Tea Estate
After getting off from the cabin at the other end, we had to walk back to the place where we had parked our car. Crew allowed us to walk through the charming tea estate. We spent some time enjoying the greenery of the garden and taking photographs, shooting videos. Having some more time to explore around, we took a small drive to the other side of the tea estate. By 6:30 PM we returned to the Vythriri. While returning, we chose a different route via Pozuthana. We usually plan our route such that the same route is not repeated when we return from a destination. This gives an opportunity to explore more roads of the place you are visiting. We suggest you to try out the same technique.

Tips For Travelers
- Wear light and comfortable clothes if you are planning to ride zip line
- Do not panic. It is the easiest adventure activity.
- Make sure that all the hooks are tied up by the staff properly. Visit during early hours in the morning or in the evening to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight.
